About BALI

The British Academic Leadership Institute was founded in 1995 by a group of academics in the UK as the Anglo International Education Consortium. Then the focus was on the development of relations with institutions in the newly created Commonwealth of Independent States, which succeeded the dissolved Soviet Union. Since then, this has changed into the current organisation. BALI now has branches in England, China, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, the Baltic States, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. BALI provides a range of services to its members, of which the most important are:

  • to provide a forum for leaders in the education and training field to network
  • to enable institutions to have their qualifications recognised, validated and reciprocated by a UK authorizing body and other host country members
  • to provide information and advice services about international education
  • to initiate opportunities for investment and business development
  • to facilitate opportunities for training and development

The mission of BALI is to create an environment in which academic and professional leaders can meet, share ideas and develop opportunities for business.

BALI has a constitution which represents the members’ interests and an elected board of management. The current board composition is based on current membership and includes executive officers. BALI membership is comprised of academics, professionals, business people and representatives of key stakeholders in the education and training spheres. These stakeholders hold prominent positions in their respective fields. It is a subscriber organisation, yet acquires most of its funding from international donors, non-governmental organisations, sovereign state investors and state organisations by arranging training and other promotional events including the biennial international symposia. Now, the Institute is increasingly an internet based organisation to enable members to receive regular updates and information on news that is relevant to them.

BALI is the organisation authorised by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) for certification services on providing both education bodies and students with equivalence information based on the academic and professional standards of the British Education System. BALI certification services are delivering under cooperation with BAC, which regulates BALI operations in accordance with the standards the British Accreditation Council follows.
